Dedicated development pods

A dedicated pod for the piece of your game that's slowing you down.

A pod is a complete senior team — a lead, the specialists and a producer — that owns one slice of your game or product and ships it inside your engine, your repo and your rituals, in your time zone. It's how we do co-development: you keep the vision and the pipeline, we take a deliverable off your plate.

What is a pod

A whole team for one piece of the game.

Ownership

Owns an outcome, not a ticket queue

A pod is accountable for a deliverable: the front-end, a character roster, every stadium in the game, a platform build. The pod lead answers for quality, schedule and scope, so your producers manage one relationship instead of a dozen contractors.

Pipeline

Built in your engine and your tools

We work inside your Perforce or Git, your Jira, your Slack and your engine: Unreal, Unity, Frostbite-class proprietary tech or a web stack. Assets and code land in your repo, reviewed by your leads, on your naming conventions.

Overlap

Same clock as you

Austin and Monterrey both run on Central time. A 9-to-5 on the West Coast overlaps six hours with us; on the East Coast, seven. Stand-ups happen live, not as a recording.

Pod vs. the alternatives

Why not just hire contractors?

Freelancers and staff augmentation give you people to manage. A traditional outsourcer takes the whole thing away. A pod owns a finished slice — and does it inside your pipeline.

How it works

Kickoff to shipping in four moves.

Week 0

Scope the slice

A 45-minute call with our creative director and a pod lead. We define the deliverable, the engine, the platforms and what success looks like. You get a proposal with a named team within a week.

Week 1

Meet your pod

Onboarding into your Perforce or Git, Jira, Slack and build pipeline. NDAs, hardware and dev kits sorted. Your leads meet ours and agree on a review cadence.

Week 2 onward

Ship in sprints

The pod runs on your rituals. Our lead owns the backlog for the slice, demos weekly and escalates early. You review in your engine, not in a slide deck.

When you're ready

Scale or wrap

Add a second pod, extend for live ops or hand off. Everything we made is documented and in your repo, so nothing walks out the door when we do.

The people in your pod

Senior, in-house, in the studio.

Every pod is staffed from our own team in Austin and Monterrey — people who have shipped together before, not a roster assembled for the proposal.

“The team at CGBot are skilled, agile, and have a high bar for quality. Their location in North America makes them much easier to work with than many houses in more far flung parts of the world. I would recommend them without hesitation to any team that needs quality, flexibility, and superb leadership to help hit aggressive dates.”

Questions producers ask

Before you scope a pod.

What is a dedicated game development pod?

A pod is a self-contained senior team — a lead, the specialists the work needs and a producer — that owns one slice of your game or product: the UI, the characters, the stadiums, the console port, the companion app. It plugs into your engine, your repo and your rituals and ships in your build, in your time zone.

How is a pod different from staff augmentation or a traditional outsourcer?

Staff augmentation gives you individuals to manage; a traditional outsourcer takes the whole thing away and works in its own pipeline. A pod sits in between: it owns a finished deliverable with a named lead who answers for quality, schedule and scope, but it does the work inside your engine and your repo, reviewed by your leads. Scope stays smaller than a whole game, and you scale up or wrap in weeks.

How fast can a pod start?

After a scoping call you get a proposal with a named team within a week. Week one is onboarding into your Perforce or Git, Jira, Slack and build pipeline; from week two the pod ships in sprints on your rituals.

Which engines and pipelines do pods work in?

Unreal (UMG, Slate, Niagara), Unity (UI Toolkit, uGUI), Frostbite-class proprietary engines and web stacks. Source control in Perforce or Git, tracking in your Jira, reviews in your build — assets and code land on your naming conventions.

How long does a pod engagement last?

Typically three to twelve months, scaling up for launch and down for maintenance. Everything the pod makes is documented and in your repo, so handing off is a decision, not a risk.

Can we hire individual artists or engineers instead of a pod?

Yes. Pods are how we like to work, but every discipline is available on its own — art or engineering outsourcing for when you need a few more hands rather than a whole team. See what we do.

Tell us the slice. We'll name the team.

A few lines about the piece you need built — engine, platforms, what's slowing you down. You'll hear back from a person with a proposed roster.
